I have just come back from Dubai. What an extraordinary place! A vast skyscraper-filled mega-city built in a desert, where temperatures rise up above 45-50 °C (110-130 °F) with 90-100% humidity. About 80% of the population of Dubai are expatriates from all over the world from all manner of cultures, religions and backgrounds. This cosmopolitan environment makes people forget their prejudices and just get on with each other: we found people in Dubai wonderfully friendly and open-minded. I introduced a group of patients, their parents and doctors to GAPS concept. The problem with learning disabilities in children in Dubai appears to be just as big as anywhere else in the developed world. The same can be said about other GAPS conditions, including auto-immunity and allergies. It seems that civilisation and modern comforts come with a heavy price tag. Hopefully, GAPS Nutritional Protocol will start making a difference.
